Infinity Sculpture October 2014
From a distance at dusk, visitors will spy a subtle twinkle vibrating in the air at Van der Donck Park. With a magnificent 1911 Beaux-Arts style railroad station built for the New York Central & Hudson River Railroad providing the backdrop, it’s within the reach of the Hudson River flowing nearby. Approaching closer, a line of light continuously traces itself over and over creating a levitating Infinity sculpture. Passing underneath, the perspective view is lost and the artwork transforms into an exuberant sky portal. The project, Infinity is inspired by the Hudson River which flows endlessly in both directions.
Infinity aims to highlight the connection between the Saw Mill and Hudson Rivers. Artists Natalia Lesniak, Anastasia Ugorskaya, and Jenny Chan collaborated to create this reflection of nature and explore redefining public spaces within the city.
