Officers Jessie Ferreira Cavallo and Laura Yakaboski are recognized for exceptional service to our community as Police Officers and in particular for their commitment and ability to act quickly and with passion to save lives as the critical moments come to play. That was the case last year when they saved the life of a 12-year-old boy who jumped from an overpass. Jessie bravely jumped after him in order to provide with immediate medical
attention. And Laura being off duty soon rushed with assistance. The strong character and swift actions of those two female Police Officers became exemplary to follow by the youth and the whole community.
“Officer Jessie Ferreira Cavallo, of the Hastings-on-Hudson police department, was on her way to work when she saw a 12-year-old boy jump from the overpass. And land on concrete she immediately pulled over, stuffed first aid material into her pockets and jumped after the boy, who she found unresponsive. Another off-duty officer, Laura Yakaboski, also stopped to help. They were able to put a neck brace and splint on the boy and also check his airway. The child had run off from an organization that helps kids with special needs or behavioral and emotional issues. “ posted by Jonny Hartwell – Aug 7, 2018, Source: New York Post
