2023 Port Chester Day — OUT OF HOME  — art workshop series

WHEN  August 26th, 2023
WHERE  John Lyon Park, look for us at the Gazebo area
For the exact location click HERE
Space and coordination are provided by the Recreation Department of Port Chester Village.
We will discover and practice Gyotaku (gee-o-taku): Fish Prints.
Gyotaku was first done as a method of record keeping. As a part of the training of Samurai warriors in Sakai Province, the men were required to record the fish they caught by inking them and pressing the paper to the inked fish. Archives exist with records of fish over 200 years ago.
After falling into disuse, gyotaku has been revived in the past fifty years, both as a record by fishermen and also as an art in itself.

We will create coral reef images using plexiglass plates with tempera paints. Be ready to make a beautiful monoprint.
Painting different animals on large-size paper is always a lot of fun.

Win a Scholarship at Krakow Art Schools

Win a scholarship at Krakow Art Schools! Polish Talent Support is a competition organized by the Krakow Art Schools (KSA) addressed to Poles living abroad. The competition includes categories related to various artistic fields. If you are interested in clothing design, photography, interior design, choreography, or acting, this competition is for you!

The main prizes are annual scholarships in the fields of study run by the Krakow Art Schools. The winners also have the opportunity to present their work during events organized by KSA and take part in artistic workshops free of charge. For many, it will be an opportunity to get to know the Polish language better and make friends in their native country. In this way, we also want to create a platform for the exchange of valuable experiences between Poles from different countries.

Applications are accepted until August 16, 2023. Polish Talent Support: www.polishtalentsupport.com

DISCOVERING PUTNAM COUNTY art workshop series.

Leave your home and look around – nature is right next to us. You can hear frogs in the lake, something rustles in the bushes, birds fly in the sky, sometimes there is a multitude of stars in the sky and sometimes there are none at all, the seasons change. During our art workshops, we will get to know and illustrate many questions about the surrounding world of nature. All of this we will illustrate with drawings, collages, and paintings.

In a consecutive series of art workshops, children and their families will learn the art elements (line, shape, color, value, texture, and shape), which are part of every painting along with the study of nature.
